How do I: Clean XO-STRUCT-12UT?

Note

XO-STRUCT-12UT is delivered at a VC-HS cleanliness level (NASA PRC-5001). After normal handling and storage, XO-STRUCT-12UT parts normally does not require any further cleaning before satellite integration.

Always inspect XO-STRUCT-12UT part cleanliness before proceding to satellite integration.

If it is necessary to clean XO-STRUCT-12UT, the following steps can be applied:

  1. Identify the contamination origin (fingerprint oil, saliva, lint, dust, etc.)
  2. Wear appropriate PPE equipment for the cleaning steps (gloves, googles, dust mask, etc.)
  3. Use the appropriate cleaning method to remove the contamination identified in step 1.

Standard cleaning recipes

For lint, dust and other loosely attached contaminations: Loosely attached contamination can be cleaned using clean and dry gases such as nitrogen.

Fingerpint oil and other surface bound contaminations: Parts can be cleaned using a lint-free cloth (cleanroom wipes) and anhydrous IPA (99.9% or better)
