Before Starting¶
Precautions must be taken during the XO-STRUCT-12UT build. Please familiarise yourself with the notes below before starting the assembly.
Danger
The baseplate (S-PANEL-BO-10) rails are particularly sensitive to damage. Surface scratches, warpage or bending of the rails can compromise the satellite deployment. The baseplate should only lie on a flat, clean and soft surfaces.
Warning
All structure fasteners (i.e. excluding the ones for the GSE handles) must be torqued in a star pattern.
Warning
Only use calibrated torque wrenches/driver for assembling parts. Damage can occur (broken fasteners, thread stripping, etc.) if excess torque is applied.
Warning
The parts are supplied in VC-HS clean conditions. Only handle them with appropriate PPE (gloves, mask, overcoat, etc.) in a clean environment (desk, air, etc.).
Warning
Only use supplied fasteners. Discard fasteners if they have been dropped on a hard surface or show signs of corrosion after inappropriate storage. Spare fasteners are provided in each structure kit. Extra fasteners can be ordered from Exobotics if needed.
Tip
The assembly torque values are suggested. They might need to be tweaked depending on the thermal and structural constraints of the structure during satellite launch and operations.
